About The Refugee Advocate

Thank you for spending some time here on my blog. I’m Rebekah, one of the thousands who can say they used to work in refugee services.

These posts are being written during a time of significant upheaval in refugee resettlement in the United States. Under the Trump Administration (2.0), refugee services have come under unbelievable strain. Lives are being forever changed, both within our borders and abroad.

I started this blog as a response to losing my job and trying to make sense of the heartless chaos that is this new reality. You can read a bit more of my thinking on this first post.

Here on The Refugee Advocate, you will find reflections on my near-decade of refugee work and perspective on the changes the field now faces. The opinions are all mine, but may find echoes in the minds of many others.
